July Trout Aplenty18 July 2006
With gales finally dropping and mayfly reaching peak abundance the first half of July has seen great catches on lochs all around Caithness from Yarrows to Reay. Principal flies have been dry with mayfly imitations doing the business. In the wet fly brigade Bibio, Poacher, Palmered Coch and green tailed Zulu have also accounted for many trout. All fish being caught are now in prime condition and it looks as if the rest of July will continue to be highly productive.
